Hello John,
What a lovely light! The perch is very distraction, especially the one behind the head. I would clone out the spider webs are they take away from your subject.
Did you use flash on this one? What bird is it? Where was the image made?
Good that you waited for the over-the-shoulder head turn. One of my pet peeves with side light is that the rim lit areas are often overexposed (as they are here).

I believe that thia is an American Tree Sparrow , It was photographed at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Concord. I believe you have visited the area on one of your stops with Lyndsey Brown. I did not use any flash

john - i like the colors, sharpness and overall impression. i'd also clone out the spider webs. given what you had, it's very good
i'm surprised neither artie or maxis commented on the direction of the pose - i generally avoid such shots, but guess it must be OK
