Excellent image! I like the composition, light, angle and mood. The chick puts it over the top for me. It needs a little bit CCW rotation, I drew a line from eye to the eye in the reflection (0.22) and I would remove that bright spot and its reflection in the middle of the parent's body near the water. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!
Just excellent!!! I'd add a little canvas at the bottom so when you frame and mat it, you don't loose any of the reflection. This is lovely image to view. Thank you!!
Nicely done Bill,
Good composition, image and exposure. I like the soft mellow green hues in the water. The little guy next to mom is having a ball...congrats...
Great picture, beautiful bird. I like the lighting and how the chick blends in with the adult plumage. Congrats!
Ditto Grace and Axel on the observations. Especially Graces comment on the extra space for the bottom framing. A excellent and lovely portrait of mom and the new born chick. This is my first observation of the Red Throated Loon and grand one at that.
A lovely lovely shot! Would love to witness a scene like this for this species. I think everyone else pretty much covered it. The light rocks! Excellent shot!
Gorgeous image. I almost didnt even see the chick! The light is just beautiful.
Great light complimenting a sharp, well-composed image! Axel and Grace both make excellent points. Thanks for posting!
I really like this image and the lighting conditions you got. I'm going to go against the grain here in regards to the reflection. I like most of it, but not the face part - plus the blue creeping in from below kinda spoils it too...wish it was all green. To that end I would crop away the face in the reflection (about to where the neck meets the throat) and add a tiny bit of canvas above the loon. The colours in the water are gorgeous!!
Lovely light and head angle and sharp. The chick is a bit lost in the adult's plumage...
Hey Bill,
Great image!
Super sharp with plenty of detail, and the exposure is not half bad ;)
We sure had fun in Iceland, thanks for sharing in the memories,
Chas
