Gabar? Goshawk

Hi Ken,
I think your picture shows a Dark Chanting Goshawk (Melierax metabates).
The Gabar is much smaller (28-36cm versus 43-56cm) and has shorter legs.

I can't help with the ID but it is a beautiful bird, I also like the eye contact. The light looks a bit harsh and I wish for a lower angle and the sun being behind you. You could sharpen the bird some more as it looks a bit soft. Thanks for sharing!

Best advice: strive to point your shadow at the bird... With the light from thard right here, the breast is in shadow and the side of the head is a bit hot.... Noe the shadow on the leg; the sunlit portion of the leg looks over-exposed. I do like the COMP and the head angle.

I agree, a Dark Chanting Goshawk, sub-adult bird (eye is still light, turns wine red later). Nice capture, especially for a hand-held effort!. Nits covered.
