I had posted a photo of a Mockingbird last fall I believe from the Santa Clara Ranch in S. Texas. Here is another one on a different perch.

Details on the bird are excellent -- especially at ISO 4000 -- and I love the complementary glow of the green shades. Open beak adds interest. Little green leaves are really interesting and add some awesome texture. Everything a set-up shot should be. Gotta love the proximity and the naked 600!

hi Brian,
relaxing and beautiful photo. I love the greens. I was wondering if her eye color was that light.
Congratulations

Thank you both for the comments!
Dorian, yes the bare 600mm is just awesome. I don't notice much difference with the 840mm though, personally.
Volkan, appreciate you sir. Yes, the eyes are definitely lighter on this species. I usually give them a little boost but not a lot.

Hi Brian a perfect set up shot , IMHO .
I do like the pose and the open beak adding a bit of interest .
Nice colors and tones , might burn the leafs of the perch to make the bird even pop more
Nice one and TFS Andreas

Nice one! Not much better could have been had as everything gelled together. One of these showed up a couple of weeks ago up here - a rarity for us - which got the birders and bird photographers excited for a couple of days before it left town. Of course I was busy at my day job!

I love the soft, open colors, the open bill, and the overall airiness of the image.
