Took a recent road trip to Texas from South Llano River State Park down to Corpus Christi up through Winnie over 11 days. One bird that was fun to find was this golden cheeked warbler.
Nikon Z9, 600 f/4 TC VR S; 1/1000; f5.6, ISO 450, taken at 840mm with TC engaged.
Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Paul, That is one very wet bird. Sharp with a few too many distracting branches, esp. the one by its chin. Bad luck on the lost tail.
The second image offers a much clearer view, the bird is well delineated. It may be worthwhile lifting the darkest areas a little and perhaps lowering the yellow luminosity to determine if a little more detail becomes apparent.

I too like the second one better. Were you working at a bird bath that you set up?

Hi Artie,
There was a bird bath there, it was one of the photo blinds at the park.
Hope to go back next year for a copule of weeks in late April; would really like more nesting painted buntings on territory, got some near Corpus Christi, but apparently they are quite abundant at South Llano River SP, was just a week or so early I guess. Any suggestions for good spots in Texas for painted buntings?
Thanks,
Paul

Thank you. I'd like to get him again when I go back a little less wet too.
