The drakes head angle is less than optimal but they just would not play ball.

Great image overall, you did well to get both birds sharp. Head angle is what it is. Love the warm autumn colours.

Nice colors, both birds tack sharp. Yeah, too bad the drake didn't give you a look back also.

You have had some good opportunities with the new lens Jon.
Yes the RH drake looking away is a pain and I'm not sure the green adds anything at the foot??? The warm colours look nice, but is it reflect full Jon, likewise I think you could up the exposure, but you were there.
All the best, just wasting some Highland water in a Hot Toddy. :w3

Hi Jon, I like the image, both birds sharp, nice background. As other have noted a look back or different direction of the right hand bird would have been better but it rarely happens. Color palette of the image is really nice. Thank you for sharing.

Other folks covered the head turn issue, but this is a wonderful IF capture, especially with both sexes shown sharply. Male's neck might be a bit hot, so double check that. You might be able to open the shadows a touch, particularly on the male's right wing.

Hi Jon .... a very nice flight shot well executed . I do not mind the drakes head that much , but can understand folks who see this as a shortcoming .
Processing does look very nice overall !!!! The smooth BG does look very nice with the different colors including the green in the FG .
Personally i think there is a yellow cast across the frame , not sure if it is from the sun or your chosen WB ???!!
Just for demo see my color approach ....
Very nice image Jon and TFS
