Hi all a female Ostrich making hazzle at a waterhole in Nxai Pan NP in Botswana ...
Hot and dry .... two words are enough to describe the area , animals were struggling to find food and water . This waterhole was the only one for miles ....

Tones and contrast look spot on details excellent, I am pretty sure most folks will also like the dust disturbed by the foot too! I think the OOF ostrich was good to include, sometimes I get torn over inclusion/exclusion.

Lighting looks awful, but I think you walked away with something nice; you really get a sense of how hot and dry it is! Foot and dust are great. Details are great. I agree that keeping the second bird was a wise move. It's close enough that you can tell what it is but far enough back so that it doesn't compete with the primary subject.

Apart from the harsh light you did very well here. I like the separation of the wing feathers, and of course the kicked-up dust adds to the arid condition story. The head cocked our way is a subtle but very good detail. I do wish the oof bird's legs weren't merged as one, but that is rather minor. Now I am thirsty and off to grab a glass of water....:t3
