Sunset Norther Gannet from Newfoundland
Something a bit different as I wanted to show the cliffs on which these birds nest. This was right at the end of the day, and and I had to acquire and track the subject in heavy shadow before it passed through this last sliver of light as it returned to the colony. Fortunately, I had lots of chances with 20,000 birds as this location! Interestingly, the biggest challenge was getting a frame with remotely decent eye contact as the birds - rightly - had their attention fixed on the steep cliffs rather than on the photographer perched a top them.
I think this guy looks like a perfectly toasted mashmallow.
