This is really neat, different for sure. Most of the time I think the water has too much of a highlight that it is hard to process to look good IMO. In this case I think you have all the droplets toned down.
I think the darker background helps in this case. Love all the detail on the breast. Maybe just a little canvas to the bottom and remove some from the top. TFS.
Very cool action Jon .... glad you managed to capture the clear view to the birds head .
Just try to be funny ... have you lost color in the processing ?? Colors that are present are very muted ....
Overall processing does look good though ... image needs to be leveled IMHO .
Nice low POV

Thanks Kevin & Andreas, I appreciate your comments, here is a repost taking them into account:
Jon ... for sure an improvement !!!!
You even avoided the clipped blacks from the OP :w3 and we can see some detail in the neck :5.
If you now add more light to the subject and the water splash .... it will really pop . Leaving BG and FG dark
Hi Jon, I think the repost is much better. I love the action and the water spray. I used to see Canada Geese all the time when I lived north in New Hampshire, I haven't seen one in Florida for twenty years. Really neat image, thank you for sharing.
Fun view of a common/overlooked bird. The report is much better.
Repost is spot on (except for a bit of levelling still needed). These guys are such a hoot to watch. Too many to count over here, almost a nuisance in city parks, but always a treat nonetheless. Nice action with all those water drops.
