Hi folks been away for a short trip to Austria ... I would call it a " Rodent photography trip " as I photographed just 3 species , nothing else :bg3: .
I had mixed success , but you will see that over the next time .... like Haseebīs " Bore you with tigers " , will I bore you with Rodents , LOL .
I do start off with an image of a young Ground Squirrel, have a snack from the offered plant .
The location was around 30 km away from Vienna .... a public spot where the Squirrels are quite used to human presence , so no hiding was necessary . Just sitting still .
The Ground Squirrels are strongly protected in Austria .
Canon EOS R3
EF 500 IS L II + 1,4 TC
Tripod
F 8 ; Iso 1000 ; 1/2000 sec ; man exp
Processed with Canon DPP and PSCC 2022 ; slightly cropped for comp . Removed another piece of food from the RHS
Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous postings
Cheers Andreas

Sweet & very commercial Andreas, but for me it's just a bit bright/light, just pulling things back a fraction on the fur adds a more.

Oooooooh, this is super special Andreas! What cuteness! Love it! Superb pose and the 'flower munching' adds so much interest, lovey colours, nice background.
I did not know they had ground squirrels there. What an awesome sighting. Well exposed with good detail and sharpness, well processed too. Perhaps a little more 'punch' would be good, what do you think?
Curious about the tail, is it this short? And is this a baby? Tell us more when you have time and please share images as you process, thank you so much for sharing.
Kind regards,

Hi Andreas -- Bring on the Rodents !
What an image to start with. I loved the moment , a fantastic image . Should be seen on postcards world over.
I am fine with the brightness, and the IQ as always is superb, very well done.
TFS !

Hi folks thanks so much for the kind feedback ... much appreciated .
Regarding the brightness i am generally ok with it , as the scene was really bright at around 11:30.
But will take another look , when i am home .
Cheers Andreas
@ Gabriela , yes this is youngster from this spring and the tail is that short . They do live in colonies and having a large tunnel system where they stay the night and in bad weather ... as they really like the warmth of the summer .
They do hibernate for several month . I was hoping for images in very early morning light ... but they only appear when the sun was already up for a longer time . I couldnīt stay until the evening the two days i spend there ... so i had to work with harsh or flat light the other day .

Thank you so much for reply Andreas!
Really cute, this little one. So much prettier than our ground squirrels. Ours are tough though:bg3:

Very nice but I like the composite better because of the jump. Please explain what you mean by the "offered plant."
with love, artie

thx Arthur much appreciated .
understand that you prefer the jumping one :w3
the offered plant is collected by me and placed onto that mound to get the squirrels onto that slight elevation in their habitat , as the area is quite flat . the plant is collected just on the borders along that location
