The Oyster Catchers finally brought the chicks out in the open. The parents did a good job of fighting off the gulls. This one was (It Seemed) trying to teach the young how to open a clam. Beautiful morning at Nickerson with Grace,Lou,Terry and Dustin. The green flies were glad we were there as well:mad:

Apt title. Nice moment. Well controlled exposure. The dark band on top of the frame is a bit of distraction but not much.

I agree the dark band should be eliminated - you could crop the image to directly beneath it. I wish the adult's eye was a little more visible. The chick is a little soft compared to the parent...you had enough light to up the ISO and stop down the aperture in order to get it also in focus. I like the interaction and behaviour in raising the young, interesting for sure :-)

The picture tells a story, an interesting one at that. Agree on getting rid of the the dark top and also wish for eye contact from the parent.

As per Daniel with one question: is the chick's catchlight a created one? It looks a bit odd...
