Very nice. I could do without the light green in front of and below the bird. The detail in the folded wing and the coverts are great and look a bit sharper to my eye than the face.

Hi Jon ... very nice beam of light on the subject .
You made the best out of the " harsh light " IMHO .
Love the reflecting blue/cyan in the plumage . Sharpness and overall IQ is very good ... well done Jon .
Wondering where the posterization is coming from , albeit it does look better when looking in PS .

Well captured Jon....these birds I think are underrated as photography goes....When nice light is on them, they sparkle....Lovely frame.

I'm so eager for our Starlings to be ready to shoot. My sister hates them because they're so mean to other birds/nests etc... but I find them very beautiful. Really nice shot. Dig the perch too.
Thanks for the comments everyone, glad you thought OK.
Artie I suspected the green areas may not be everyone's cup of tea, that was one of my reasons for submitting - to gauge reaction. I could sharpen the eye area a little more, there was hardly any sharpening applied to the image other than at raw conversion.
Andreas, I am looking carefully at the image and I cannot see posterisation. (??)
Hi Jon ... you might remember your observation regarding posterization in one of Steve K´s postings :w3 .... believe it or not :w3
Looks good to me. Great pose. The dark background is nice.
