White-rumped Sandpiper flapping after bath

This image was created on 28 August 2021 at Nickerson Beach. While seated on damp sand, I used the hand held Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens (at 600mm) and The One, the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless digital camera. ISO 2000: 1/3200 sec. at f/6.3 (wide open) in Manual mode. AWB at 9:37am on a cloudy, dark, windy morning. Tracking: Center Zone/AF-C Bird/Eye Detection AF was active at the moment exposure and performed amazingly well.

Last Saturday was amazing at Nickerson Beach with a 25 knot wind and a zillion birds on the beach and in the air. 252 keepers our of 5350 images created during a six hour session. Learn more in the Nearly All Bird Photographers Stayed Home on a Wild Windy Weather Morning ... blog post here.

nice frame Artie, looks like a small ballerina I like the motion blur in the wings but I wish they were stretched out a bit ...not much light....

did you buy a monitor ?

The view of the feet is fun, but I wish for a bit more freeze in the wing. I'm surprised 1/3200 didn't give it to you! Frame feels a bit blue, but that might have been representative of the light on this day.

Yes, not much light. Right after I made this one I went back to the car for the 600 f/4 ... Not yet on the monitor.

The wings give a nice sense of motion. I could see the bird more higher and to the right.
