This is the next frame in the loon landing sequence that I recently posted. He was closer to the water, which changed the shooting angle and reduced the bright reflections at the top of the frame.
D500 500PF. ISO 720. 1/1250s . Hand held from my little loon boat.
Post: LR CC and PS 2021. Cleaned up a few spots in the water, adjusted exposure on the belly to show a little more detail.
Advice and comments appreciated.
Which of these two loon frames do you prefer?

Hi Randy, I really like this, very striking and different with a lovely impact for the viewer. Retaining colour, not sure, converting to a Grayscale tiff I think might be the better option, but... My only wish might be to have a darker FG and let the light then tail away into the distance.

I don't know which one I like more. This is very nice as well. The splashing water is great.

Do like this one better as well Randy, nice job.
One thing that I did appreciate on the former was that, because of the crop, it did not feel so far right in the frame and the trail had purpose while also allowing the Loon to have some room to fly into. Not exactly sure the solution other than going 2x3 or leaving a touch on the right.
No matter, I'd love to have this frame. Well done.

I love all the water spray in this image. Nice job handling the backlight as well. I do find myself wishing the bird was further left ion the frame though.

I like the image design as presented as it includes the landing wake. The lighting is spectacular. May I assume that there are significant areas where the specular highlights are toasted? I'd remove the single round specular highlight bottom center.
