Dan:
Funny title, interesting image, Low point of view, good detail in the darks, the usual great iris and bill, all good.
Considering the D500 and that ISO, noise is very well controlled.
Nice comp.
Cheers

Thanks Randy,
I process only in Capture one and Affinity photo which is starting to work well for me.
I assume that Haystack Rock behind? Light waterline through the background isn't perfect, but that big beak just sucks us right in.
Noise does look good for 3600. Would love to see more scaly detail on the feet, but that's tough head-on like this. A funs shot regardless.
Big feet for sure. Noise looks fine to me. Espcially for an image with so many dark areas.
Absolutely stellar picture, love the detail and exposure, and such an awesome bird too. Well done
This is a really good one. My favorite part is the upper background. The dark tones on the bird are perfect. The white line is the white line. Is there any way you could have gotten even an inch or two lower to lessen the impact of that?
with love, a
Thanks much, Artie, I was not laying down which you should not do in the surf zone so as low as I could.
I think this is of the best bird photos I have ever taken...
