Tricolored Heron — fledged chick just of the nest — begging

This image was created on 3 June 2021 at a fabulous rookery in north Tampa. Standing at full height, I used the Induro GIT 304L/ Levered-Clamp FlexShooter Pro-mounted Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS lens and The One, the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless digital camera. ISO 800. Exposure determined via Zebras with ISO on the rear dial: 1/640 sec. at f/4 (wide open) in Manual mode. AWB at 6:03pm.
Wide/AF-C was active at the moment of exposure performed almost perfectly.

Love the expression you managed to get Artie! The open beak, the "hairdo", details and BG are all great! I am back and forth about the crop. I kind of like the uniqueness of it, but I also find myself wondering how it would look going a bit tighter loosing some off the right and bottom?

I like the comp and the spike hairdo..I would clone heal the green patch at the top.

Thanks, Kurt. I did my best with he crop. As I said on the blog, this bird landed right in front of me for four seconds and I had a fixed lens ...

Nice colorful youngster and the hairdo in combo with the open beak is somehow cool .

I'm a huge headshot fan, so this sits well with me. Open beak and spiky hair add interest, and I agree about cloning the green blog.

f/4 limited you here since you got the wing and face but not the neck. Don't know how much light you had to spare on the ISO/DOF front, but probably not much!

love this one, the focus is pin on the head which focuses your attention there , interesting crop too I think it works well
