I like the dark background and even darker perch - very nice. The gull pops nicely off those. Needs more room at left IMO, and if you have a frame with a bit less head turn by a couple of degrees that would be super (or more as in "down-the-barrel"). I love the name of the place:bg3:.
Darker back, pink legs, and huge bill (without black spot) make this a Western Gull! Regardless, the exposure and detail can't get any better. Neither can the engaging head angle. Love the clean BG. Only suggestions I
have are more room all around (if you have it) and lifting the exposure on the seaweed perch so we can see more texture/detail.
Dan, one of the more beautiful ones I've seen from you in a while.
Fantastically exposed, really awesome detail and I love the perch on the seaweed. The dark bkg definitely allows the subject to shine.
Only minor nits I can make is wishing for a touch more parallel HA and a touch of room left. Otherwise, nothing but praise here!
If you had a month of Sundays and all the strobes in the world you couldn't replicate that lighting, fantastic shot, don't think the rest of us should bother submitting for the Theme this month. Great pic
Great job on the exposure and love the dark BG. I personally like the head angle, but also wish for more room on left if you have it.
This is looking good here Dan....Exposure looks spot on with really good detail in both blacks and whites...Nice work

Yes to lovely light on this adult Western Gull. I'd love to see more room especially in front of the bird. The wet seaweed looks fine to me.
