Dan: Lovely capture, darks look good to me, and sharp where it needs to be. I also like the rippled water. For me, I would lose some off the bottom, just below the bright section to give less of a boxy crop. I do notice a white halo around the bird. I've recently learnt how to remove similar halos in Photoshop...not sure in CP1.

Excellent low angle view. I could see adding a touch of light across the frame, but that's more personal taste than anything else - you PacNorthWesters and your heavy light! Love the detail on the legs.

White line through the fore ground is what it is (minor), and I agree with Paul about the crop -- even if you can't do too much to fix it; moving the bird down puts his eye too low in the frame but gets rid of some
of that empty foreground. So, pick your poison.

nice low angle and light, I think you would have gotten better details if you were using photoshop for final resize and sharpening but this ain't bad. halo noted it happens when the sharpening radius is coarse.

Neat looking oyster catcher. I have only seen the american ones here. I like the feeding pose.

In like the low angle and behavior of this. I agree about removing a tiny sliver from the bottom. Nicely done!

I keep coming back to this one hoping each time that the dark tones will look lighter ... Otherwise, quite lovely. Everything is perfectly square and the detail on the links is neat as well.
