I had another trip to the Glen last week looking for the SEO....I did see it hunting, but, too far for a decent photograph....Anyway, whilst waiting for the Owl I spent my time photographing Pheasants....It was raining at the time, so I tried different shutter speeds to show the rain, hence the SS here...I did go slower, but there was some motion blur on the bird...so decided that whilst this one is not showing the rain, I thought the exposure showed the bird best....The bird had just shaken the rain off, hence the feathers being lifted....HH...ACR, Topaz DN and PS2021

Nice view of this pheasant out for a stroll. I like the diffused light.

Excellent subject isolation with the low angle! He really pops on the green. Love the detail; it's really incredible given the 2X. Crop is perfect - lots of breathing room! Perfect head angle as well. Bravo.

I agree the low angle makes this a great pic well done

nice low POV and the bird does really stand out against the BG. Nice work!

Nice one Will and being side on has really helped. DoF looks OK, but yet again you will get caught with your pants down on SS, what's with not pushing the SS, seriously Will, you have the kit, use it and you will have more keepers. I might just darken the FG.

Hi Jon....I took quite a few images, different poses ....I did take some with a faster SS, and also some with a slower SS...sort of experimenting with the rain, which was more of a drizzle really...

Will, just to chime in, as you know these can move quickly, preferring to run rather than fly, but even just moving a minimum 1/1600 to ensure no motion blur, with the rain, you want a shallow DoF and a SS 1/160 or below so the Pheasant would need to be stopped dead.

Hi Will, excellent low perspective, and you managed a fine HA too. I really like the light and the colours and detail are spot on. The slightly raised foot adds to the image.
