I arrived at Viera about 6.30 a.m. and it was not long before the the whistling ducks became quite active. There was a family with ten babies and it was surprising to me to see how other whistling ducks fly in and harass the parents. They have so much to do just to guard the safety of their little ones.

Great light, details, eye contact and BG. There is a slight S/H halo around the bird, easy to fix. Why do the other ducks harass the pair with ducklings, territorial issues?

Nice wing & head position. Eyes don't too fine though. They look a bit too dodged...

Thanks Axel and Kaushik for your comments. I am not sure Axel unless they are jealous of the two that have babies since the do not have any. Kaushik in editing this image I used levels, curves and a round of usm. The eyes were not touched at all in any way. Their eyes have a round white circle around them which really makes them stand out. Again many thanks.

It's smack-on! Great light on the underside and a well defined leading edge of the wing.
Nice work Judy.

Judy,
Great light, great subject, well exposed, sharp and I don't really see the noise Maxis mentioned.
The only thing I would suggest is placing the Duck slightly more left in the frame. This would provide more room for the duck to fly into.

Hi Judy. Great shot!
All has been said but I really like your honesty about the lens (600 f$) it should be 600 f$,$$$:D.
