An unexpected encounter, I was equipped for butterflies not wrens, sizable crop.
I applied a little less sharpening than I might have done another day.

Hi Jon, a nice opportunity and killer backdrop. Again I like the calling pose and I'm pleased to see the subject has room to breathe... But I'm not a lover of the perch, I find it competes with the subject and in some way looks like an elongated snapping turtle!!!!:bg3:
I might remove the bird dropping and perhaps just come up on the crop to dropout the hole????

Steve, I appreciate the perch is a bummer, I find the expression, "it is what it is" irritating but that is precisely the case. It was a less than perfect scenario, it is entirely as I saw it. Good idea to crop above the hole, the dropping is inconsequential for me.
Nice bird and singing pose. With the white blotches, the BKGR is less than ideal for me. The perch is simply much too large. And ugly. A crop as suggested would be better. And the light is from behind the bird ...

Hi John, I agree with the comments above about the perch, but love the singing pose. I also wish you had a bit more DOF.
Love the bird and the BG but the perch is a real problem for me.
I would try to smooth out the white/green line in the BG,

Hi Jon .... the Wren looks very very good , IMHO , as does the overall image including the BG .
I am with the others that the perch is not ideal .... but would have taken the shot as well , so I can fully understand your thinking .
