Yesterday at a local wildlife refuge on a cool overcast day in a marsh area there were a number of Song Sparrows dining or gathering nest reinforcement from the base of dried Cat of Nine Tail flowers. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoffrey, nice habitat shot, lil sparrow needs a bit more sharpening.

Looking good Geoffrey....Well done on getting a clear view of the bird..Nice pose...What I really like are the dried flowers, and how the BG blends in with them and the bird. Would love to see this larger, would look even better.

I like the shot.
If we can clone few elements and Burn and Dodge few areas then this image would very nice.

Geoffrey, really unique perspective here.
Very wintry feel and the leaning cattail (?) breaks up the predominant vertical theme nicely.
I only wish we could get a little more detail/sharpness on the head of the subject - it seems like maybe you got the wing sharp?
TFS.

Like your thinking here Geoffrey, but I feel you needed a lot more SS like 1/3200 to nail the subject. The overall muted colours work. Less on the LHS and more in front to fly into IMHO, as presented I feel the moment has gone, as the subject has passed you by.
Nice to see something different.

Love this small bird in environment canvas and the story it tells. For some reason, the subject being tack sharp is not needed for me. My only wish is the taller reeds terminated in the frame. Regardless, this canvas works well for me. TFS

Hi Geoffrey .... really love the concept and the habitat .
Just think the bird needs to be sharper and the comp should be different . IMHO the bird needs more space to fly into
Really nice to see this kinda shot .... and this is refreshing to go out of the box !!!!!

A very interesting environmental image! Very creative! 1/1600 was a bit slow for the wings, and I agree with Andreas that more room on the right would help.
