Revisiting some old files I thought I would take another opportunity to reprocess. I have posted similar images to this one but not I think, this particular one. I had previously been photographing this bull moose at Gros Ventre in Yellowstone, he had been seeking out the females - and making good progress until a bigger bull came along and then he decided to part. It was at this point I was mesmerised by their capacity to cover so much ground quickly without any apparent effort, I suppose it helps when legs are something like six feet long.
Hi Jon, nice to see a Moose, something different...
I like the pose and if you have a sliver more below I think it will help. Techs look good, nice choice of f/stop and enough SS to freeze the movement, it was as if he was 'tip towing' about. A slight CW rotation and adding some magenta helps balance the slight green cast. Whether you open the darks up a fraction is purely personal, but bumping up the environment I feel adds to the scene.

I would drop the Blue especially in the coat, maybe Global???? The brighter 'heather' could it be reduced, you were there and also a matter of tastes too.

Hi Jon .... nice to see a moose posted into the mix .
I do like the overall OP on all counts . Nice color and tones , the width of the landscape with no distractions . Your RP is a tiny bit too flat for my liking .... but just a matter of taste .
My only wish would be a " less central " placement of the subject .
Nice one . TFS Andreas

Hello Jon,
Glad you are revisiting older files, I see your Canon 1Dx has given you some lovely images:S3:
Techs spot on here. Considering the HA I think subject is well placed within the frame. Landscape is superb!
I also like the hesitant pose from the Moose and expression - was he looking back at the females or the bigger bull was close-by?
Unsure about colour of the subject's coat as I have never seen a Moose before...but those light green bushes looked better in the OP, they are a tad too bright in your second version.
Overall I like this frame, very much. Lots to look at and the BG is just awesome, holds the subject to the viewer's focus:w3

Hi Jon -- I loved the image, what a magnificent subject and nice to see the lovely environment.
I liked the OP much better. Nice details and loved the muted colours.
I would like some more space at the base and a bit off center placement.
