Hi folks ,
long time no see .
Have done nothing in terms of photography , did not even touched one of my images for months .... so I might be a rookie again .
This drinking giraffe was captured in the Khwai concession back in 2018... to capture this moment is quite difficult to manage and not always possible due to various reasons . This time I managed 3 frames ....
As a personal note .... so far I got lucky and I got around the Covid virus , hope all folks here are ok , too !!!!

Hi Andreas welcome back, I don't think you are at rookie status! Looks pretty good from here (screen freshly calibrated!) My only suggestion would be to consider a slight lowering in the tones of the background perhaps it would make the giraffe stand out a little more.

Welcome back! The water splash looks great. Details are nice. I like the framing and the light.

Very nice composition Andreeas. The lowered neck leads the eye to the face of the girrafe and that splash of water... I like the colors of the BG, water and grass, they compliment the giraffe wery well.

A fine shot Andreas, the curves splash of water adds so much to this image. Nice comp and colors.

Great to have you back and posting.
And a fantastic image to start with.I really liked the framing and the spiral of water. Also that sense of motion in the jaw/lips adds to the image. Very well framed , the neck draws you to the action.
The image has lots of details and nice colours , very well done for a rookie :w3
TFS !

Nice image Andreas, shame the head is angled slightly away, water appears a bit over sharp for me.

Hello Andreas,
Not easy to nail those images because giraffes tend to shake their head a lot as they drink, so a great deal of movement to contend with and sometimes hard to focus.
Techs well chosen, nice SS, DoF works well. Detail and sharpness both present, colours look natural - not quite a rookie image, well done!
Kind regards,

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments , much appreciated .
Jon .... I think the separation between the subject is given by the colors .
Steve ... no additional sharpening done to water , just some more local contrast by pushing the tonal range .
Gabriela ... indeed a very difficult task to capture this action .

All forms of Adjustments are a form of Sharpening, ie Curves, Levels, Contrast..., so I would reduce it if it was me, but your call.
