Hooded Merganser In Funky Green Water.
This young individual allowed close approach this summer. It was, however, always with some reeds in the way for me to get down as low as I usually prefer. This was fine on this occasion where the reflections were "decent-ish" (but far from prefect), and the view of the water being stirred up by its movements made more visible by the higher vantage point. I liked the water patterns of this frame best out of the series of that morning's session.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, a few specks removed from the water, (spot removal) reduced the highlights in the chin area (burn tool).
