This is one from last month in my home town .... The BG is the inside walls of a ruined castle, they were in dark shadow and unsightly, so I decided to darken them. The bird was high up, and I climbed another part of the castle to get a better POV.

Killer pose and detail, Will! The bird really cracks on that dark BG. I wish for a bit more profile on the face/head, but that's relatively minor and mostly overcome by the calling action. Bird does feel a bit tight in the frame so more room all around, particularly below with that sweet pink rock, might work.

Man that bird looks great against that dark background. The pose is nice as well. The crop works very well.

Will, some don't but I love blackground shots. The drama sucks me in every time and what better than a beautiful white specimen to contrast with!?
A bit of the noise is coming through in the cheek area but probably hard to avoid. Still a really great pose and a very solid frame.
Agree with Dorian that loosening a bit might help.
TFS!

Hi Will, love it, and crazy bout fulmars. I just got lost looking at my files from last year when i shared a cozy spot next to a talking fulmar! Everything was going so well until his mate showed up and then i was toast... Oh well. Anyway, i like Brian's word:blackground. I'm a fan indeed and this is such a dramatic portrait, super job Will.

What studio did you create this in? Love it. Wish only the the bird gave you a bit more of a profile of the head as it called.
