Nice isolation and background. I would probably be inclined to do a horizontal crop.
A beautiful little bird, I like the environmental aspect too. If this is a crop I would be inclined to give a little more space or as previously suggested go landscape.
Very nice details, pose and habitat. I agree a bit more space in front of the bird.
This is a really pretty environmental image.
Bird looks great and I would prefer a landscape orientation,
Gail
Thank you all. I had originally prepared both portrait and landscape versions. The portrait OP had the advantage of avoiding some additional twigs on the right that I thought were a bit distracting (although perhaps one might say they balanced the comp.) The landscape version is posted herewith. A tighter crop follows that, with the RH twigs cloned out. In both landscape versions I didn't take the time to clone out the one twig that crosses the bird.
Here's the second RP, tighter.
I like the natural look you captured in this image, details and exposure. Pane #6 is my favorite. I would like to have more images of this beauty, TFS Bill.
Yep, the first landscape wins it for me as well. And by a lot too. I'd even add back even more if you have it, enough to give that twig tip a bit more breathing room. Looks like it had an awkward grip on the perch! Pretty neat to see. A slightly better head angle would have helped here IMO, but I get the impression the light angle was not best for that. Sweet frame all around.
Much prefer the landscape version here. Nice view of this fella.
Pane #6 is just right. Twigs greatly add to the landscape environment, and don't take away from subject, by the way which is beautifully captured in great light. Well done, Bill.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I agree, Pane #6 it is, maybe with a sliver more room. I appreciate the comments and suggestions.
