Really like how the tones of the owl match the tree. Like the pose and the overall composition.
Stare grabbed me immediately.
You made the most of bad light.
Eye focus is intense, makes it work.
This is very nice. Owl matches the perch beautifully. High key works for me here. Detail and stare are great. I love the bit of claw poking out. The blown ear tufts work well. No nits from me, wish it was mine. I put up a screech owl box 2 years ago and have just had squirrels in it -- go figure. TFS
Are you kidding me? In your back yard? Wow!
Very nice frame.
Love the windswept look and the way the tree wraps around him. Nice textures on the tree.
Great stare as well.
Well done,
Gail
Thanks John, Alex, Dan and Gail for your kind comments. The day I took this image I had a Screech owl in each of the two maple trees in the backyard. I thought they might nest in one but they were gone the next day. Alex I have a nest box that was up for 5 years. The first two years it was squirrels but after that the owls nested twice. It may still happen for you but watch out when they fledge you need an umbrella at dusk because the adults will dive bomb your head for about a week.
