Good feedback, except where a blind or leaves came from I don't know? Have used this lens for a while and only recently experimented adding the additional extender. I entered it wrong: no tripod that day. The results are only so-so but it was worth a try and the trade-off is having more usable pixels. With that, have tried gently sharpening a bit more and I've cleaned up the background around the claws. Since there are only a handful of this species on the site, thought in that regard it was a good addition. Thanks again for the help. Dave

Hi Dave, I like the position/pose of the subject and diagonal of the branch, but sadly it doesn't appear sharp to me Dave and there seems to be some cloning based on the claws. I have seen folk adding a 1.4 or 2x to this lens with good results, but it's not something I personally would choose to do. If you are using a blind then I would move it closer and ditch the additional 1.4.

Lovely pose, perch and background. I've never had any luck getting a decent, close-up shot of these guys, partly since they don't live around here and partly (on my trips to Virginia) because they are often high in the trees and very twitchy. Ditto Steve's comments. Unfortunately the sharpness isn't quite there in most places, and cloning noted around the toes.

nice little fellow, I like the pose, the light angle wasn't optimal. As noted the image is decidedly soft as posted and doesn't look salvageable. It looks like you are using that zoom lens with two TC's stacked , that is not going to give you very sharp images.
