From a few weeks ago when we had our last fresh snowfall to cover the dirty snow mounds along the sides of the plowed country roads. Looks like a crow left some kernel tidbits near a cornfield, with this Horned Lark more than happy taking the food scraps. Photographed from my car.
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/8, ISO 40, natural light, handheld, FF, a few small pieces of debris removed from the snow.

Just another "DC" classic. EXP, soft gorgeous light, colors, details, head turn and BG. And, you even got the feet... TFS

Very nice. Like the framing and that low angle. The detail looks very nice as well.

Nice frame!
I like the soft light and the textured snow.
Your eye work looks great. Agree with Dave that it is nice to see the foot so well.
I wouldn't mind a bit more "pop" via selective blacks or curves and would evict that little bit of corn to right of foot,

PS Agree about the liquor store and pot comment. Problem is, if we close the liquor store and we get a bunch of people who have the DT's and need ICU beds and ventilatory support, then that is fewer ventilators for COVID patients. They could do a phone in service though where people could call and pay for their order and staff could put in in the trunk of the car/taxi.

Hi Dan, the POV just makes the image and I like the fact you were slightly lower, looking up at he subject. Having the head just slightly turned towards you adds to the capture and the almost pastel colours and soft light are beautiful, creating a good range of detail and clarity. No need to add anything more, as it portrays nature at it's best. PP has been handled with a sensitive hand and you know when to stop.

Wonderful soft light, great alert pose. I've never been able to get close to these guys, but then it's been a long time since we had a decent snow storm here.

Sweet all around Dan, it made me pause and really see the silence in this image, wonderful capture

Lovely shot, I really like the faded blue BG, and overall pastel tones. I presume it was iso400 not iso40?

Thanks all!
Gail, thanks. I do understand the reasoning to keep those stores open, but it still seems like upside-down thinking overall by closing the parks. Oh well, we'll all be glad when it's over, or at least on the rebound! Keep well:c3:
