This Hooded Merganser was attempting to impress a little lady. He was pretty close and moving at pretty good clip. I was having a hard time keeping him where I wanted him in the frame.
Cropped from 4X6 to 4X5 using the left of the frame. 4X6 looked a little to unbalanced to me. Processed with Topaz Labs DeNoise AI.

Amazing you were able to get so close to him. Great display pose and bow wave; nice details. Just wish for more room (which is a rare thing to say, from my experience with Hoodies).

Close for sure. The pose is great. Look at that neck. Digging the low angle as well.

Aaaha as Elvis would say! I like the pose , a little tight on LHS, but a very appealing image. I look at the blacks on the throat and in the darker areas of the wing - could you get a little more detail there??

That's all the black detail there is. I tried to get out more but what is left is pure black. A sensor with about 5 more stops of dynamic would be nice. I don't need more pixels.

Outstanding. Not too tight for me and the exposure is about perfect.

pretty cool pose Jack, especially the fanned crown. good exposure and details might be tempted to tone down the lone diagonal oof trunk in the BG in front of the bird. the small wake by the breast is nice too

Lol at the title. His Las Vegas years I guess! Awesome behaviour, and look at that neck. I too love the little bow wave splash. Yes, tight in behind...
