In 2019 we scheduled our trip to Iceland in May, specifically to see these Barrow's Goldeneye drakes in breeding plumage. This was shot on the Laxa River near Lake Myvatn. The ducks swim down the swift Laxa River, feeding and cavorting along the way from the lake to some spot just around the bend from where we were sitting, and then fly back up toward the lake to start over again. I've previously posted a few of the flight shots, but haven't posted this one of him swimming.

It's a nice shot I like the open bill, I would suggest looking at the blacks on the back, they look a little lacking in detail, but I like the head and the iridescence.

Nice head angle, open bill, bow wake. Good iridescence on the blue on head.
The whites are exposed well, but perhaps you could tease just a bit more texture out of them, esp. on the back of the neck.

That iridescence on the head is great. The rough water is nice. Like the pose with the little wave in the front.
