Great capture Dan,I see them hunting flocks of Geese here in Nd but never have seen one carried off.Nice HA but I see lots of noise on the eagle on the dark feathers. Don't see much in the way of noise in the background not even in the darkest areas.TFS
Right time right place and ready wow you did well there. The noise appears minimal to me it doesn't concern me at all. The most important thing is both birds eyes are sharp. A little unfortunate to have that enormous tree trunk in the left of the frame, I suppose that could be dealt with ??)
An amazing capture with lots of artistic problems but what amazes me is how tiny the goose looks. Were you with Bob Lester?

Looking good Dan...Very well captured. Noise don't look too bad here, I may desat the green in the BG a wee bit, I am sure this will make the bird pop even more. Good work.

Arthur, yes, Bob was there but around the corner. Fairly newcomer to the pond
where we have a nice local photog group, but he has nice new equipment,
nice guy...
I agree about lots of artistic problems, these are grab and shoot, I walk around at 1/2500,
and just lucky. Also the frame rate of the D500, I got 15 frames, only one with a decent HA
on the Eagle.
Would not have happened with slower FPS cameras.
Dan, what a grab for both of you, super behavioral shot. The tail feathers look a bit hot and maybe take some contrast out of the BG.

capture of a lifetime, yes the tech's aren't perfect but they never are for a grab shot like this, never seen one with a Canada goose. If you want send me the NEF I'll process and maybe I can make some improvements for you.

What gets me about this wonderful shot is that the goose is very much alive with head up watching where it is going.

Poor Canada Goose is still alive so that makes it a bit hard for the viewer but oh...what a shot.
