I captured this one back at my usual perch on the shore, within the rocks, at low tide. For once, a Curlew landed, at sunset time and walked about giving me some nice poses, he did hear the camera though, and flew off, unfortunately in the opposite direction. Handheld at 800mm.

Great low angle, fantastic light and love the pose and details. Great job getting head/bill completely in the water BG. Maybe could have opened up a little more for better separation from the detritus in the BG. Love it as is though. TFS

Lovely light on this beautiful Curlew, William. The setting sun brings out the details nicely. Like his pose with slightly raised foot.
Great bird, with a pose that lets us know that it knew you were there:t3. I am not a huge fan of the dark vegetation mound behind, but I dig the low angle and smooth patch of sand it is standing on. A short but fun encounter I'm sure!

The light sure was nice and i like the low angle. The bird's head and bill are framed perfectly above that seaweed. Composition is spot on as well.

Great view of this relatively giant shorebird! He's giving you a very attentive look, and the details are nice across the bird from face to feet. The vegetation behind is a bit distracting, and the bird seems very grayed, particularly on the flanks and undertail.
