This Galah was having a wander at a local park.

My favorite Aussie bird!
The IQ on the bird is excellent.
How, I wish you had gotten lower to get rid of the grassy BG. I admit, that there can be a trade-off in doing this because you may not get the feet if too low, but I think this image would have been stronger with no visible feet and a clean BG with perhaps some nice yellows/greens in the BG. Perhaps there was an ugly building in the BG?
The other thing to watch for when getting lower (ie. lie on your belly), is to make sure the BG horizon line does not intersect with the head.
I completely dipped on getting this bird when In Australia this year so am envious of this shot.
Gail
Beautiful bird and technically perfect but in a very plain setting. Getting right down on the ground would have given you a chance. Mo worries from me on the feet.
with love, artie
Thanks Gail and Artie. The Galahs are usually at this location (only 5 mins from home), so I'll have other opportunities to get them on the ground and in flight. Yes, the BG is rather plain, so I'll aim for the greenery in the BG next time and also get lower. Cheers.
Yep, getting down to eye level would have given you a completely different image, in a better way. Appealing colours, and yes the IQ on the subject looks good.
Very cool looking bird. Neat how the bill is buried in those feathers. The image quality is great.
Thank you Daniel & John. Will get on my belly for the next one! Cheers.
