I photographed this leaf last fall with my Canon Powershop S3 IS (my pre-Canon 40D play toy.) I converted it to black and white at the time but recently went back to this image and converted it into duotone using a duotone dream action I downloaded from the web. It gave it just enough color to add one more dimension to the half in/half out of the water leaf while retaining its overall simplicity.

Jules,
I do like this. I think that b&w would make this a bit flat. The conversion you did to duotone really brought it back out. Nice going.

I was thinking along the same line as Sharma The hint of color sure makes the difference in the contrast If anything would like seeing more room at the bottom !! Love it !!!

Alfred that's so funny because I actually cropped a little off the bottom to move the leaf more to the corner.

Great image Julie. I like your composition and the effects that the duotone give it are just beautiful.
