My mate and I discovered these guys feeding on a local loch...Getting close to them was going to be the big problem as they are very alert in my neck of the woods. They were quite close to the edge but, between the birds and us, was about 40 yards of 8 feet high shrubbery and reeds. This took about 20 mins to fight through with the mud getting deeper. Eventually getting close to the edge, I covered myself in cam net, and managed a few shots before the water eventually filled up my wellies. The high winds(as you can see on the blowing feathers and water droplets from the bill) didn't help, as it was blowing the reeds in front of the lens every couple of seconds. I left quite a bit on the bottom for the 'virtual' legs.

I like the ruffed up feathers from the wind. The water dripping from the bill is nice as well. You handled the light well.

Excellent soft colour, light, and detail. I like the water.

A nice juvenile. I'd take some more of the bottom. The light from the left did not help the image.

I too would take some off the bottom. Good sharpness, and I love the water surface texture. You did well on your approach!
