Decided to venture out to the harbour during this week-end's big storm. It was snowing so hard I could not even see any eagles in the treeline but as soon as we threw out one fish this guy came screaming in! The AF system had to work hard to get a sharp image.
Canon 1DX 600mm
ISO 2000 SS 1/2000 F 5.6
Crop to 80% FF. Had to add a lot of contrast to get through all the snowflakes.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail

I really like this Gail. You did really well to capture so much detail through the snow. The whites on the bird are lovely The snow flakes add another dimension. TFS

Amazing shot under the conditions. Nice work getting focus on him as he came toward you out of the soup, and good PP work to make it sing.

Very nice indeed Gail, the colour and falling snow create & set the scene. I like the fact it's almost coming towards the viewer, detail and clarity is lovely in the face.
The only issue is the sharpening halo sadly outlining the dark wings.
Well done in difficult conditions.

My kind of feeder set up :w3 Looks nice Gail and love the intense stare on the eagle. Snow really sets the mood.

Pretty good all around. I love the faint hint of treeline in the BG, which makes the falling snow more visible. The incoming flight pose is super!

Terrific snow photo... tough to pull off and it looks great. If the Eagle was looking at you it would be off the charts...
I see no halo, PP looks very nice.

Very well done Gail, I can imagine a difficult shot to take and to process, I like the result.
(Although I like the post you may well find a little judicial use of Dehaze at raw stage could be beneficial as an alternative approach).

I am so jealous of this shot! I have zero eagle shots from anywhere! The intense look is wonderful, and the falling snow adds lends a softer side to the image. Whatever processing you had to do, it looks spot on!

Beautiful Image. Love it.
The Front on Angle with wing structure looks really good.

This is awesome Gail, I adore shots like this which really show the snowy environment, and your processing really shines with this one
