Crandon Gardens, Key Biscayne.
I found out something really fast, after a day. In the sun, you can get away with 0 comp or maybe +0.3
Now, in the shade, you burn anything within ten miles if you don't go almost 2 stops under.
Is that just my camera?

Wonderful shot Fabs!!! Being from TN I haven't had the priviledge to do IR of palm trees!!!! Question??? Have you followed the tutorial on Lifepixel for your conversion? Also, for preset of white balance??? Just curious since I am learning IR??
Fabs, it's probably unique to your camera.
On the 20d, I'm almost always shooting in manual at +2 to get a decent exposure (Manual mode). So I adjust accordingly whether it's shade or sunny to get to +2 and I'm ok.
And BTW, outstanding image and congrats. Hadn't thought of shooting Crandon in IR.
Lookout here I come :-D
an absolutely stunning image IMO.
This is so soft and almost surreal....and wonderful hues blending
Thanks, guys!
Shellie, I followed the tutorial. They preset my white balance when they converted the camera.
I find I sitll need to remove a slight magenta cast, which I do setting the grey point in Curves.
I'll probably discover more stuff on the way, just got it yesterday :)
Well Well finally you have your ir in your hands. I thought that you were going to post something from this morning. I think is wonderful image. Composition is right on and it looks like your exposure is also on the money. I'll try the exposure compensation you've mentioned on my d70 next time.
Welcome to the ir world. What does Al think?????
Regards to both.
Fabs,
This is so beautiful. Wow. I absolutely would hang this in my house. Gorgeous color in the sky and just all around wonderful image. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Fabs!
Wow it looks like it is snowing in Key Biscayne!!! Very cool looking image (pun or no pun)! I love the light blues and the pale pinks/magenta! Nice little S curve leading to a little birdie.
Amazing feel to this image Fabs Love the subtle colors !!!
Agree with the others that this is a stunning image and it's your first day using the new IR camera? Wow!
Love that lone bird in the water making his way across to the other side. So simple and beautiful.
Thanks guys, all I need to do now is get out and make some more :)
Wait, I may have a couple more from the two outings...
went out today and took similar scene but in landscape.
thanks for the suggestion to head out there.
we need to do an IR outing
good spots are:
Viscaya
Matherson Hammock
Fairchild
This is so beautiful, Fabs, that for the first time I'm considering having one of my previous cameras converted!!
Wow and wow!!!!!!!!!
Nice one FABS - welcome to the world of IR.
Personally - I do a custom white balance every time I use mine, depending on the light and the scene. I shoot a green patch of grass or something similar to set the custom white balance.
