I was playing around with some older shots this evening while watching baseball, and I was very happy with this re-edit of a 2014 grab.
This was actually taken on my 18,000 cross-country bicycle trip. Getting 20 inches of snow on the second day certainly slowed me down
a bit! My hosts had a feeder in the backyard, so I spend a bit of time playing with the finches and sparrows instead of riding/birding.
This was an impromptu set-up with the stick stuck into the snow near the base of one of the feeders. Good result for braving the -5F temps.
Lotta light let me close down to f/8 to get the whole bird in focus. Loved the original 7D at ISO 320.....
Canon 400mm f/5.6 on EOS 7D
1/1000 at f/8, ISO 320
Processed in LR CC. Cloned out one small dark distraction at frame bottom.
In other news, my Red Sox are going to dominate the WS!

Looks great Dorian. The pose, details ad high key look are all top notch. Wish I could say the same for the Red Sox :t3

Nice work, Dorian. I do not see anyway the image could be improved, just about perfect. Love the white snow for the background. Thank you for sharing.

Great high key capture of this beauty, Dorian. Good looking perch as well.
