Certain a good 'game' bird to photograph now, especially in the Autumnal settings David.
Getting far lower, if possible (flat on the ground) so you are at eye level would have been nice I think. Colours look a bit muted, was it overcast, (late afternoon after the rains?), but certainly the mauve colouring in the plumage doesn't look right. Also I would look at the tail, as it appears to have some overlapping cloning and there is a halo running along the front chest. The halo, is that from combining a blurred BKG as I doubt its through sharpening David?
A good subject to photograph and obviously showing well, albeit in the shooting season.

I saw one of these the other day in a field by the side of the road. The halo is very noticeable even to my eyes.
Yes to the halo and tail cloning problems but overall the look and colors look great to me, as does the perspective and the BKGR. Even the angle of grass clippings adds. Be careful with the Photoshop monster.
