Hey Bill, this big gull looks full of details and i like the frozen foot action you stopped. Nice look at under and top wings, preparing for take-off. Well done.
Very nice take-off pose.
I like the exposure and details in the whites. The clouds produced some nice evn lighting.
I really like the pebbles on the sand.
My only suggestion would be to add a sliver of canvas on the RHS,
Gail
PS How is the shoulder?
Thanks Ann and Gail. I suppose I could stretch just a sliver of canvas to give him some room.
I've gotten about 95% of my range of motion back, and starting to do some light resistance training. With luck I'll pick up a camera by Thanksgiving, with 100% recovery around the first of January according to the doctor. I had no idea anything could be so tedious, but I guess I'm really lucky compared to injuries that some folks have to deal with. In the meantime I've still got lots of old images to dredge out to the files.
You put the soft light to great use. Love the full detail of both under and over wing with no shadows in the way. Great separation of the head and I like the current crop and positioning.
That's really eyecatchin, I like the large size in the frame it really draws me in. I would suggest a little extra sharpening on the bill.
Wonderful detail with no shadow areas. I don't think you could have captured the image any better. I like the one foot off the ground and fully upstretched wing pose. TFS
The running/take off pose is pretty neat. Details look quite good as well.
Nice running take-off pose with lovely soft light and lots of detail everywhere. If you have nothing to do you could spend 30 minutes on beach clean-up detail. Or not.
with love, artie
Spot on take-off capture under beautiful defused light, Bill. Excellent detail, and I too like the pebbles and shells on the beach. That was a banner day for shore birds up close.

Thank you all. Artie, for Sandy Hook this is a pretty clean beach; not a shred of plastic in sight. I chose not to spend 30 minutes on cleanup. Have fun with the penguins and the 500pf.
