Since Stu posted a lovely gull in a sewage works, I figured I should post this one of a gull against an industrial building. I was standing on a wharf in a Norwegian fishing town on the Arctic Circle, on a cloudy, drizzly day. Directly across a narrow channel was a large red warehouse. When I saw the Herring Gull coming up the channel I locked on him and waited until he was in front of the building. I cloned out a few small distracting elements.
opportunistic Bill, lovely BG color for the tack sharp gull, well done!

Very sharp. Nice building! In a perfect world the near-wing would have been more fully raised. You might try some NIK CEP Detail Extractor on that near-underwing or my CEP 50/50 recipe.

The building made a great background. The composition is nice as well.

Hi Bill, the thumbnail throws up endless thoughts of where did you capture this fellow. :w3 Opening the image tells us how you achieved the shot - well timed and captured. Well exposed on the whites, and sharp detail all round.
There is a location in Cape Town where buildings reflect their colours onto the water, and all one needs to do is wait for the subjects to swim across this coloured water. Just makes for a better and unique image.
