Always exciting to catch some squabble going on with any birds. Here the black skimmers were chasing and shadowing each other when they would break into an open beak split second position and then fall into another swoop and chase. The ss was only 1/1250 and I certainly wished I had been able to freeze the underwings of the top bird.

Hi Ann. A great action shot...really like the angles and the open beak of the lower bird. Nice colours and clarity.

Nice action frame. You caught a good view of the lower bird. The upper bird adds some nice tension.

This is pretty cool!
I am surprised that you managed to get the birds this sharp at 1/1250.
The upper bird bill is so sharp- really adds a lot to the image. Good comp.
I don't usually like borders on an image in BPN but here it would have helped to separate the light blue sky from the grey BPN background.
Great action shot!

Good shot, never seen these birds and the top one gives shows how deceptively narrow the beak is.

I like the interaction but wish the upper skimmer had a better angle and we could see its face

I like the juxtaposition and the whole image. For my taste, your signature overpowers this image a bit ... Perhaps smaller?

Ann, this reminds me of the good old days when the skimmers were in abundance at the wetlands a few years back,
nice interaction and the pose of the bottom bird is spot on.
