An image from Pusztaszer in Hungary photographed from a hide. I tried to time taking the image of the night heron when having the grey heron in the background.
Canon EOS 5D MK III with Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM.
1/2500 sec at f/4.0 and ISO 400.
The image is cropped by 20 percent for composition.
Please let me have your comments and critique.

A very nice juxtaposition with a killer night-heron with its nicely raised foot. A bit more separation would have been ideal but this is way cool as it is.

Great light and great pose on the heron. I don't much care for the grey heron in the background. Also on the 5k imac the head of the night heron looks soft.

I like this. The low angle and light are great. The small bird compliments the bigger bird well.

I often shoot such juxtapositions, but getting the balance right can be a challenge. Although the nigh heron is much closer and clearer, the GBH is so big and the background is light enough that it rather overpowers the Night Heron a bit.
I played around with it for a bit to try to keep the concept, but perhaps shift the balance back towards the Night Heron. Selected the Night heron, make a mask, and the tweaked the mask to include the foreground, and then inverted it. Used a brightness/contrast adjustment to tone down the GBH and background. Just an option to try to see if it works for you.
Cheers
