Very dramatic crop. Nice detail throughout. Well done.
Hi Peter,
Believe it or not.......these guys are one of my favorites because of their attitude! Must be a NJ thing. Very nice details and I like the way you framed and composed it.
Love it! Like a Robert Bateman painting delivered with the camera. Since I love photographs that look like painted art, and since Bateman is easily my favorite wildlife artist, that's about as good as it gets for me.
If that is not a crop you must have been distressingly close to one of those dangerous beasts.
I love the graphic image. It gives me so different framing ideas that I would try out next. I would have tried an aperture of f 8.
Neat image Peter. Lots for the eye to explore.
Steve
Hi Peter, I love your composition, the light and the exposure! Very strong image. However, the eye looks a bit soft to me, I wonder why you shot this @ f/4.5, IMO f/8-11 would have been possible and rendered better DOF.
Thank all for some amazing comments,

Steve thanks for the complements having this painted for me will post the painting when done.<O:p</O:p
Steve and Vincent due to the time of morning and very low light I couldn’t go much higher than f4.5 but agree eye could do with some sharpening. Again all thanks for looking and commenting<O:p</O:p
Now, that's interesting. I agree that there is a bit of softness, but in this case I saw that as a strength because it gave the image a more painterly look.
I too love the dramatic crop. Very well done. I bet the painting will be sweet!

Now that is a classic line; put a big smile on my face. I have to remember to share that with Todd Gustafson.
As for the image, IMO it absolutely needs more sharpening. My first impression was that the image was not sharp and it did not leave me with a painterly feel. I too love Cape Buffalo so it is not just a NJ thing, but perhaps a metropolitan area thing...
I do love the COMP.
