Intermediate morph Red-footed Booby taking flight with nesting material

This image was also created at Darwin Bay, Genovesa (Tower Island) at 6:31am of Day 13 on the 2015 Galapagos Photo-Cruise of a Lifetime. I used the hand held Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM lens and the EOS 1DX now replaced by the now replaced by the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II. ISO 1600: 1/800 sec. at f/4 in Manual mode in cloudy dark conditions. As I was mistakenly set up for the white morph birds so this one was about 2/3 stop underexposed. AWB. Center AF point/AI Servo Expand/Shutter Button AF was active at the moment of exposure. The selected AF point was squarely on the bird’s face, a rarity for me.

Nice colors through out this image. Like the background and the pose on the bird. Nesting material is a plus.

I like this flight capture, and the sharpness where it needs to be. Nesting materiel in beak is perfectly positioned. I assume that's water or possibly mist/fog at the base. Personally I would like to see about twice the amount shown. Fine as is as well.

Wonderful bird, lots to like here: nesting material, colors on the bird, and the wingtip blur... I think I would lose the bottom horizontal line.

Thanks Alex. Good eyes on that. Someone on the blog spotted it last week :( I teach folks to work large and to check their work when making selections ... I will re-visit the master file at some point.
