I was walking back to my car in the morning after shooting some shorebirds when I noticed a couple of squirrels running around foraging. It seemed rude not to have a lie down and see if they'd come in close. One did and this was the result. Would have preferred the grasses not to be covering him, but thats where the food was

Dear Mike,
Indeed, it would have been rude to ignore this little one:bg3:
What beautiful image, well exposed and such lovely colours! Perfect techs and framing is superb. Lovely pose from the subject and HA works so well.
I personally do not mind the grasses, they add a nice 3D feel to the frame.
I like everything about this - good work in the field Mike, well processed and presented - a pleasure to view, thank you so much for sharing!
Kind regards,

The IQ and details in the fur rock in this shot Mike!
Love the whites.
Great POV and I do not mind the grasses at all.I love the hint of rust color in the FG. Really makes for a lovely color palette.
I might be tempted to evist the grayish splotch betweeh the blade of grass and the squirrels tummy.I would also smooth out that partial blade of grass(?) on the RHS of frame
Always nice to see a beautiful image of a common species,
Gail

Loving the low POV and lighting here Mike, don't mind the grass stalks at all and actually enhance rather than detract IMO. The catchlit eye, techs and overall colour look spot on also.

Hi Mike - I added the Theme prefix for you. This works quite well. The low pov is perfect. Love the dof and oodles of detail with excellent sharpness and techs. Colors look good and the grass doesn't detract for me either. Classic pose.

Rachel

Nice IQ and POV. You've made a common animal look very attractive here! The colors throughout are good. The bit of food adds too. TFS,

If I had to find something, really try to find that is, the dark band across the frame would not be there in ideal circumstances.
However, I love the POV, details and the extra little bits by the way of the grasses and the greens enhance the overall colour palette.
An excellent image Mike! TFS
