I was standing at the loch side photographing the BHGs, when this curious guy turned up. I wished the bird had chosen a thiner perch, but this wasn't a set up, anyway I kinda liked the reds on the perch which blended with the red breast on the bird. I did look at a vertical crop, but wasn't happy with it.

Your European robins are so much cooler looking than the American ones i am use to seeing. Nice detail on the bird the perch is nice as well.

I like the pose, details, complimentary BG and perch for the same reason you do. Very nice image William.

Hi Will,
I agree with your critique - the perch is pretty large but does add interest also. Nice details and BG. A fine image.

Cute, and like the orange lichens matching the robin. Big perch, but well adorned, and balanced enough in the frame to work.

Beautiful image Will, personally I like the lichen covered perch, also the pose, detail in bird and fabulous background.
This is a fine example that good photographers can make great images of a common species.

As John said so much cooler than our American Robins. I really like the detail and clean image design. I don't mind the perch -- its a bit large but it has great character and thats what the bird picked. Good look at the eye as well. TFS
