I like the pose, with dangling feet, canted wings, head clear of the wing. Crop is effective.
I like the trees in the background to give it depth. Wish however that the big clump wasn't right behind his back end. Just personal taste.

I like this look of the egret all splayed out and coming at us. The trees help with the perspective of the shot as Randy states.
